KEF Infra One Industrial Park in Krishangiri unveils Rs.120 cr Joinery and Fit-Out Factory

Krishnagiri, 27th January, 2016: KEF Holdings, a multinational diversified group that specializes in innovative offsite construction technology, today officially inaugurated its Joinery and Fit-Out Factory at the KEF Infra One Industrial Park in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. Built at an investment of Rs.120 crore, the facility is one of the ten factories at the 42-acre Park. KEF Infra One will be the world’s largest fully integrated one-stop ‘offsite construction’ destination.

Equipped with advanced technology from leading international specialists, the Joinery and Fit-Out factory is the first of its kind in India. The unit builds on automation technology realised through robotic systems that are run by Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software – to eliminate wastage in the production line as well as reduce time and building costs.

The KEF Joinery & Fit-Out factory features 30 best-in-class machines developed by the top woodworking machinery manufacturers in the world. Notably, the panel line, solid wood line and finishing line are sourced from various European countries like Italy, Germany and Austria. The factory is capable of manufacturing 150 doors and cabinets a day.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Faizal E. Kottikollon, Chairman, KEF Holdings said“We are well-positioned to become one of the leading offsite construction facilities in the world and this factory offers a glimpse of what we deliver in terms of quality and capacity. Our aim is to manufacture all-encompassing and sustainable structures at half the cost and time and make it significantly easier to meet the infrastructure needs of sectors such as healthcare and education. ”

“In line with the vision of our Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, we have invested INR 650 crores in the KEF Infra One campus based on ‘Role of technology in infrastructure’ and ‘Housing for all’ themes to usher in positive change. Hence at the facility we are also displaying our model of affordable homes which will cost just a little over INR 5 lakhs, making the possibility of owning a good quality home a reality for the common man. We firmly believe this is going to be revolutionary in the affordable housing segment.” he added.

The facility will have hand-picked 72 employees who are specialists in the Joinery industry to run the new factory, and the aim is to double this number soon. The unit is equipped to produce furniture and woodwork ranging from high end furniture in the Palace Joinery segment, as well as, the full range of domestic and office furniture, with specialized design and finishes, which further add value to the modular structures produced at the Park. As part of its usual offerings, the facility will be able to produce all kind of doors, windows, cabinets, wardrobes, wall panelling and furniture.

Besides the factory, the KEF Infra One Industrial Park also opened doors to its Visitors’ Centre today, which will be used to display the large portfolio of products. The 2150 sq ft. visitors’ centre will have a conference room, reception area, pantry, IT/server room, restrooms, and two offices.

KEF Infra One Industrial park houses 10 factories across 5 distinct construction disciplines: Precast, Prefabricated and modular unit, joinery and fit out, aluminium & glazing unit and a stone processing unit. Installed with the state-of-the-art equipment, KEF’s fully automated precast unit can produce a range of products including hollow core slabs, beams, columns, wall panels and staircases. The Prefabricated POD and modular unit is capable of producing prefabricated rooms, bathrooms and kitchens featuring modular MEP.

Special efforts have been taken to ensure that the entire facility adheres to the environmental standards prescribed by the Ministry of Environment & Forests.
